To identify your fabric’s content, snip off a piece and burn one corner. If it’s smooth it’s cotton, if it melts into crispy bits, it’s got synthetic. 😊❤️

I'm OBSESSED with that quilt block. Aside from one "fancy" project, I've only ever done basic square patchwork in my quilts, so I'm duly impressed. Here's to quilting in 2024! Well, here's to all the crafts in 2024!

to find out if the fabric is polyester or not u need to burn a small piece of it. polyester melts and forms these smooth shiny clumps and it smells awful, like burned plastic (which it is). cotton on the other hand (and viscose and linen and other plant based fabrics) burns similar to paper and leaves behind very light and fragile ash; it smells like burned paper too. bonus info: wool when burned behaves like a mix between polyester and cotton as in it melts a bit but it also crumbles and it reeks of burned hair. the other big difference is that cotton doesn't get static and it absorbs water better

I'm sitting in front of a fire, drinking a glass of red wine, and watching a fabric haul getting inspirations.
This is the cozy evening I've been needing! Super excited to see how your quilt comes along. I love hearing about people in the Southern Hemisphere talk about getting ready for autumn as those of us in the N. Hemisphere are anticipating spring. Someday it would be so fun to travel and experience fall in a time when it's spring in my home.

So nice projects to look forward to for autumn later this year. Here in Sweden we’re waiting for spring to begin right now🍀🍀🍀

Because of you, I bought a Japanese pattern book from amazon. I don't sew anymore, but I love the aesthetic of these clothes.

I’d love to see you make this quilt . Great color choices. Their quilts are so traditional, yet modern too.

Wow Janelle I was in Japan for the first time in October 23 for 2 weeks visiting family and doing some sight seeing and fabric shopping- I also bought some beautiful printed needle cord for a pinafore style dress, a Japanese sewing book and some beautiful white embroidered lawn that I am going to use as one of the fabrics for the Roberts-Wood flower patchwork dress! Love your channel and your style!

It would be time consuming, but imagine how beautiful it would be if you embroidered a little flower in each of the frames of the embroidered fabric 😍!!!

wow I am looking forward to the Japanese book ones, you will find the instructions are pretty self-explaining, but you can always use the google translator photo if got stuck. I tried to make a dress or two in the past, and also remember to check if the seam allowances are included in the pattern, some need you to add them on

I’m always so inspired by your video Janelle. I’ve been following you for a while and am making my first aroma dress at the moment. Thanks for sharing who inspires you and your makes. Can’t wait to see how your plans turn out.
