i dont think they can. the title "GTA" alone will attract like half of the world, even if its a mediocre/bad game. and most other good open world / sandbox games will always overshadowed by GTA and will be called "GTA" ripoffs, no matter how good they are. GTA has taken that genre long ago and became the genre itself

Rockstar/GTA has been building this series for almost 30 years and to think any game that comes out that's similar to it could be remotely as good is crazy talk. To put this in perspective, they have been actively building and creating GTA games before the Internet was considered to be a common household amenity lol

Remember back in the days when people thought Sleeping Dogs, Watch dogs or Mafia 2 would be serious competition against GTA V ? With many articles titled "The new GTA Killer ?". 😂
I know that you can do fabulous things with few, but trying to compete with a company that invest half a BILLION in their games, having THOUSANDS of devs working on it for at least half a DECADE, it's impossible.
And the thing is that all those ressources are well managed, so even with the same ressources, other companies are no garanteed to make games as good as Rockstar's.

Mindseye failed. Let's see if the new absurd venture game makes it. I hate the fact that our only chance is rockstar games in the gaming industry. Every other company mostly fails to deliver a polish shooting game.

i dont know. mindseye looks cool as fuck and it definitely deserves its stripes, but i just dont think it'll scratch the same itch for a lot of people. i know im not the only one who feels this way. i had the same with saints row too. i never really played true crime, watchdogs, sleeping dogs, anything like that so cant comment but id imagine they would suffer from the same reception if i did play them. just dont quite hit the right spot.

It just leaked GTA6 cost around 2 Billion dollars to make! How does a new/smaller company compete with that. Not impossible but highly unlikely.

I agree with the fact they NEED competition but the funding they offer is hard to one up. The amount of developers they can afford to hire in comparison with other companies will always give them the edge and they know it!
