The way you said "Wojtek", "Bydgoszcz", and "Kurwa" is truly the best way a foreigner can say those words, huge respect.

Making a short about Poland is probably the best way to summon a bunch of Polish people from all over the internet. For example me.

Wojtek wasn't his nickname. That was his name, and excuse you, he made NCO. That was an honest, hard working, artillery bear, and a battle hardened brother to those men. So much so that once the troop was disbanded, and Wojtek retired to a zoo, his battle brothers would _routinely_ get in trouble for climbing the fence and sharing beers and cigs with their brother Wojtek. You put some respect on his name.

To clarify, Polish government fled to UK when Nazis and USSR invaded it. The government in exile was forced to declare a symbolic war due to allies being at war with Japan. Japan had very good relations with Poland and thus saw it was politically forced move, and declined the declaration.

Keep in mind that “only ever declared war on one country” doesn’t mean they never invaded other countries before that

And here's a little fun fact: Wojtek wasn't the only bear in polish army. Before him we had Baśka Murmańska that was famous from a defilade in 1919, where she was walking with a parade step on 2 legs and shaked her paw with our head of state of that time, Józef Piłsudski (no, I didn't drop acid. It's a real story, I swear lmao)

Edit: And btw, Wojtek had an official rank of corporal. Imagine being lower rank and obliged to carry out orders given by a literal bear xD

Getting beer is easier than getting bread because we don't really like bagged bread so you have to get it in the window where fresh bread is supplied (usually early morning and afternoon) while the beer just chills in the fridges all the time.
