Antarctica: With an area of 13.2 million square kilometers, the icy world is the fifth largest continent on our globe. Located in the southern polar circle, the thermometer drops to extreme values of up to minus 70 degrees Celsius inland. As a result of this biting cold, Antarctica hosts about 90 percent of the global freshwater ice sheet - at the same time, it contains about 70 percent of the total freshwater reserves!

The frozen man and hoarse. Trippy. It is truly amazing that even in the most extreme environments life will find a way.

We still do not know how we had maps of Antarctica without Ice. It shows rivers and a surface without any ice.

My dad had a cape named after him on Jan 31, 1962 during operation deepfreeeze by the navy. Cape burks is on the 1963 map of antarctica. The map wad an insert in the 1963 February issue of national geographic magazine. The uss glacier was the icebreaker the navy used for 11 yrs. My dad wad the senior helicopter pilot on the glacier 1961-1962. . I was 7 when he left and 8 when he returned. February 1, 2023 will mark 60 years the cape burks has been on the 1963 map of antarctica

Wait... .06 millimeters a year.... Lmao. When I was in high school in 1984, they warned that New York would be 3 feet underwater by 2010. Apparently more snow falls down here also. I dunno... Global warming or entering an ice age... It's always been a big distraction.
Great vid tho.

Antarctica set a record low temperature on August 24fh 1960. The temperature dropped to a -127 degrees farenheit.Fahrenheit..Too cold for anyone to live there for an extended period of time. During the years of the navy's deepfreeze., the uss glacier had a different crew each year.

Back in the early 60's when my dad was there and still today there is a lot of geological research the I'd done by different countries from around the world. In 1980 the soviet union s3t up a station on cape burks. It wad called Russkaya Station, and after the fall of communism in 1991 mothballed the idea of having a station there. Some one from Russia uses the station to conduct research.

The history of mankind is in the Antarctica. We have been separated. The only truth we will ever recognize is when we start populating the Antarctica. When men become in again in the cold no longer bothers us. The human race has become soft we need to populate the Antarctica is one of the only safe places that will be left on the planet Earth

When Buzz Aldrin came back, from Anarctica. He was vissebly shaken. Saïd something about, the AWFULL things, he had seen. He didn’t, elaborate, so he is keeping it to himself . He is not as outspoken, as Gordo Cooper.
