The real tragedy is when "I'm afraid of failing, therefore i can't fail" turns into "therefore i won't *try* "

"Just do it. If you're scared, do it scared" - Don't remember where it's from but this is a qoute, that helped me do lots of stuff.

I actually found a psychologist (who also has a second doctorate in philosophy) and he incorporates a lot of existential therapy into his techniques. I found him in my 30’s after many bad experiences and then I went to him like it was my job, lol. For 10 years. I’m very grateful for his help and I still struggle, but I have become much better at self-acceptance and self-nurturing.
He also helped me a lot with being in the present and not living in fear of worst case scenarios.
Also, I was already on disability and only had Medicare, which he accepted. There truly are good ones out there, even though it can be tough to find.

I struggle with social anxiety as I was bullied and ridiculed a lot when I was younger and I always feel really good when I put myself out there manage to have a normal conversation. Usually I stutter a lot, give dry responses, and just get really awkward/anxious so when I make it through a full conversation with a random person without getting overly stressed I feel like I’m on cloud 9. I know its a lame reason to get so happy and its something people do everyday without a problem but it means something to me.

I have this problem where no matter what I achieve the first thing I think is something along the lines of "I was just lucky", "Is not impresive others have done it better" or "this is out of character this will not hapen again". Every time it feels like my thoughts go towards stomping any joy I could feel about my achivements to constantly keep this self-loathing image of myself. It got to the point I started to forget every situation in my life where I struggled and came on top. Its surreal to be told about your achievements and while having little recolection of them.

The last few years I have been going to therapy and getting better but that habit of mine is been hard to let go.

This is THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT PIECE OF ADVICE IN LIFE. Seriously. You can do ANYTHING if you remember this.

That literal example is me. I was afraid of heights, then I started hiking and felt amazing making to the top of mountains. Now I am actually rock climbing and feel even more amazing. Coming from a very urban life into nature and overcoming barries is one of the most fulfilling experiences you can have in life.

This is something that genuinely never made sense to me. Anytime there’s been something I didn’t want to do but did it anyway I don’t get any satisfaction from it, I just think “yep I regret this because I knew this isn’t what I wanted to do.”

To be honest, a lot of us feel like you have to PERFECT to achieve things we might think people better than us can reach and that’s just not true. You can be a very imperfect/average person and do extraordinary things, it’s all about your mindset and what you’re willing to do to make shit happen.

What I hated the most, and caused a big part of my depression in my teens, was school.
I dropped out of the final year of our equivelant of High School.

Only a year later, when I started working on some of the missed courses, and over 2 years managed to finish High School, did I feel good.
Even though I hated school, overcoming that hurdle made me feel strong and capable of doing anything. I've now gone even further and taken a bachelor. It was way harder, but I felt strong and determined that if I tried by spending my whole day on it that I would eventually manage.

The first year was pretty much like usual. Procrastinating a lot. At the end of the first year I asked my mom to come over and just be there when I worked, and I managed to work a lot every day. I felt good about the amount of hours I put in. This lead to me understanding that what I thought I could do in a given time was actually accurate, and it felt way more rewarding than playing games (once I delivered). Although it was hard when I worked, the reward lasted longer, and I could show that I had passed. Like some rare loot from a video game, but people actually cared.

Now, I feel better than ever. I work a steady job, and I feel accomplished when I pull off a whole day of work. It's way better than any high of playing video games, but of course I relax playing video games after work.

Because I play less games, they're actually always fun. I also don't feel committed to a game. On top, I commit to going to bed early to make sure that I have the energy to work a whole day, which in turn gives me more dopamine when I finish a good day of work.

You're the witness, that's it. All other things can change, your body, mind, feelings, but the witness is the real you that precedes all of that at the foundation. Meditation teaches you how to pay attention to that. I've been slacking on meditation, but I know that much
