Tip for anyone who can't pay via a credit card, only by debit, get a Curve Card which allows you to add your credit card (Amex unfortunately not supported) and spend on it as if you were using a debit card.

Correction, Just to add it's not a £5 fee for the 123 main account it's £4 fee per month.

Hi Andy, I live with 3 other mates and im in charge of the bills. Would I still get the cash back and benefits if my housemates set up direct debits into my 123 lite account or would I have to get them to transfer another current account and then I transfer all that money into the 123 lite account. I only ask because I saw you said it doesn’t work with splitting or something. Thanks Andy.

Andy - any chance you know if I can get cash back on university tuition fees anywhere? I set up a direct debit with Santander to pay my tuition as I read Chase excludes tuition fees from the 1% cash back but just wondering if you knew of any tips

The 123 Santander is 4 pounds a month not 5. Also you get double account cash back for the next 2 months on direct debits. Been with them for years.

What if your direct debit is £20 - 30 per a month?

Santander is doubling the cashback on energy bills for 2 months from September, giving you 4% instead of 2% cashback on your gas and electricity bills. You’ll get the double cashback with Select, Private, 1|2|3 and 1|2|3 Lite current accounts.
