G. Loomis offers us standard as well as Light Presentation (LP) fly rods in their PRO4X series of rods. Here we're going to put both models of 5 wts. in a head-to-head shootout to see how they perform. Seeing how these rods work will let us pick the right model for our fishing.

Thank you for your videos. It was your videos that turned me on to the Pro 4x line. At the fly shop test casting the rod against other rods in the $400 category, I found the Pro 4x the best at casts beyond 60 feet.

Very interesting - it looked like the LP was the more accurate rod out to 65 feet - then just went sideways at 75. It looked like you were almost bang on to every target out to the 65 foot marker - which for a 5 weight is more than plenty.

How would you compare these Pro4X rods to the GLX family? I love fishing my GLX 5 and 8 weights and I'm curious how the Pro4X rods stack up.

Thanks for this video, very informative. So would you consider the standard PRO4x to be the better "all-around" trout rod of the two and the LP to be more of a small nymph/dry fly rod? A reoccurring theme of some original Pro4x reviews is "feels heavy" or "tip heavy." Was there a significant difference in weight when casting the two rods? Thanks.

Anyone know where the Pro4X LP are sold in the Greater Toronto Area? The big box stores don’t seem to have them or are back order on their websites.
