The BMW 8 Series. E31.

The BMW 8 Series was an entirely new class with V8 or V12 engines, built from 1989 to 1999. It was the most expensive BMW model of that time.

The BMW 8 Series included several inventions such as twelve cylinder engine or steering linked rear suspension. It had a very aerodynamic shape and was the first car with a drag coefficient of less than 0.3.

I'm so happy to see this feature! OMG as a kid living in New York City during the 90s the BMW 8 series was the shiz! I remember when I read the features in the car mags. Does anyone recall how Honda totally copied the one-pillar headrest from the 8 series in their 92-96 Civic? The 8 series is an ICON! Even in 2013 the interior is still a bold and timeless design. Love it!

BMW is sick...and it makes me chuckle...because they strike me as the kind of company where at a Board meeting they started joking that they should have a BMW model for all the numbers except the first and last....so not in the distant future, there will be a 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 series with corresponding X and M versions and not too long after that ... Electric (i) versions. Come on BMW you know that's your strategic plan. ...(big wink)
