Celtic person here, If people _don't_ want to be called something, don't call them that. Respect peoples boundaries and realize that just because one person thinks something is okay doesn't mean everybody is gonna think it's okay. This is why woke culture is so toxic.

I do not understand why « latino » is supposed to be non inclusive for both sexes, as it is used in english, the word « latino » is supposed to be a shortening of « latinoamericano ». The feminine form of « latinoamericano » is « latinoamericana »... as such the shortened form is also « latino »... just in spanish they do not say « latinaamericana »... it is « latino » for both.

Even if you use the term of « latino » in the sens of what it means in Spanish, then, it means just « latin ». Which does not refers to latin America but to latin cultures, that have their cultural roots from the roman empire, the city of Tome was founded by the tribe of the latin, spoke a language called latin and the region of rome was latium (which mean the land of the latins)...

In every romance language, the neutral form is based on the masculine one. As such « latino » in spanish refers to both males and women from every latin culture, from Italy, Spain, France or Portugal... to Brazil, Argentina, Haiti, Quebec or Mexico.
