Pete Lockett - Percussion Toolbox (Cajon) - Issue 294

Welcome to part two of this basic primer on the fundamentals of the cajon. Last time we looked at the three main strokes – the bass tone, touch tone and sharp accented tone (or slap, see picture below). Then we looked at a few hybrid ‘non-traditional’ grooves to get on the move as quickly as possible. This time we will expand on that a little more. It’s worth remembering here as well, that these articles are merely a starting place on the instrument and would be ideal for any drum set player who might want to add some percussion to their musical world.
