Psalm 1 - The Two Ways

Psalms 1 & 2 form the prelude to the Book of Psalms. Psalm 1 focuses attention on how the righteous are to live, while Psalm 2 instructs us on who we are to be looking for while we live righteously. We are to be looking for Israel's Messiah.

Psalm provides us with a contrast between the way of the righteous and the way of the wicked, and their ultimate destinies. The key to being among the righteous and consequently being over abundantly blessed of the Lord, is to mediate on the Word of God "day and night." The result of doing this will be the experience of God's grace and mercy conveyed in the expression, "For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous" (vs.6).

To reject God and to walk another way is to incur the judgment of God. The psalmist writes, "But the way of the wicked will perish" (vs.6). Messiah Yeshua says the very same thing in Matthew 7:13-23 and Luke 13:22-28. By placing our faith and trust in Yeshua we can be among the righteous and inherit eternal life.
