I'll admit, I'm a fan of the bow and arrow, but the day when I saw you on Dual Survival Make and Atlatl and Dart in Half the time it would take me to make a green wood bow (let alone arrows) that may or may not explode, and then catch a couple trout with it, it was really an inspiration to learning Atlatl. Beyond anything else, it's just so much more simplistic, and versatile plus the zen of it as well it's almost meditative when you take the time to take a nice controlled throw. Plus the sheer amount of kinetic energy from an average weight dart can't even be produced by a spear or a 100+ Ib. draw bow, just as some food for thought, I've noticed with myself that if one is accurate at throwing spears into a small target like a walnut, the atlatl seems easier to get the hang of.
BTW, how is the "Survival Atlatl" project of your's going?
The only thing left to say is thank you for shining light on the Atlatl.

Nice Matt. We sometimes do workshops where the participants have to go into the woods; make an atlatl and dart and then we have a competition.
