Just because a given bodybuilding exercise is more novel and complex doesn't automatically mean it's going to deliver better results for building muscle. Instagram fitness is an attention based platform and content creators are well aware of this, and so they often feel the need to post "unique" muscle building exercises or workout techniques that stand out from the crowd and to make it appear as though they possess some sort of hidden hypertrophy knowledge. The average bodybuilding beginner sees someone with an impressive aesthetic physique performing one of these fancy exercises and then just assumes there's a direct correlation and that they should be doing the same thing. In reality that person never even built their physique using that exercise in the first place and doesn't even use it as part of their current muscle building workouts either. They simply posted it to keep up with their content schedule and to have something new to show you. Now, this does NOT mean that an exercise being novel/unique/complex is inherently bad either or that we should simply appeal to tradition and not look for new ways to optimize our training and enhance muscle growth. The point is just that each individual movement should be evaluated based on the merits of the movement itself - not the physique of the person demonstrating it or its degree of complexity.

The blindfolded resistance band dumbbell curl squat is actually a very effective exercise. Just look at the man's physique!

"The blindfold and squats makes it harder for your muscles to concentrate, which is scientifically proven to reduce the amount of bloodflow your biceps get. This causes epic gains bois!"

facts. The dumber and redundant the exercise, the more attention it gets

Picture Bart Simpson writing on the chalkboard and repeat after me...

More fancy does not mean more effective.
More fancy does not mean more effective.
More fancy does not mean more effective.

The blind fold is actually beneficial. Due to not being able to visually see, it tricks the muscle there for multiplying muscle Protein synthesis by 200%!

This is hilarious, met Sean at my gym in Victoria BC and he is just as genuine and down to earth as you would think. As you can tell also funny. Such a pleasure meeting you my friend. It’s refreshing to meet someone you look up to online and having them be even more genuine in person. Actually it’s quite rare, keep killing it!

"Blindfold to confuse the eye muscles, right babe ?"

Since you can’t see, this increases muscle confusion, which is the best way to get swoll.

the blindfold is for the mind muscle connection... your vision uses a lot of neurons you could be otherwise using to target individual muscle fibres ;) you have to keep the blindfold on for at least 2 weeks though =p

This is honestly so ridiculously accurate and depicts the point of useless fancier exercises only being used to attract views for fitness influencers to a tee. Another hilarious video excellently executed to show a bigger more valuable point 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
