Bladesmith here and I've also been throwing since I was a kid. Imo a good throwing knife would be any type of steel really and only heat treated at the point. As far as the best, user's preference. An experienced thrower is usually best with kitchen knives by what I've seen though. I personally prefer HC steel about 10 inches in length formed into a simple spike. Old files work great too. Make some bro!

Coldsteel make some good ones they are all made out of 1055 spring steel. They hold up and they are great for beginners. I own several Coldsteel blades and I love every one except for the factory sharpening. And check out there torpedo it's a really heavy double ended spike. It would probably take out a target however it hits.

New Amazon darts are no bad for the money. Hi Ben are ok if you cook them in the oven the soften up and won't break on you . La forge are great but super heavy.Just my opinions. Thanks for asking.

Balance is everything. But I think that has to be adjusted to your particular style. There are some commercial throwing knives that are designed with and adjustable weight to modify the balance to confirm to your style and technique.

ON THE MARKET ? ACE.. GIL..
WKTL are a different breed like mini swords .as far as best throwing knife . Hell I still through with my stainless steel butter knives.and homemade seax made from 1/8"welding steel. From lowes .a beast . TO EACH THIER OWN .

I think it should be how you choose a bow...and arrow.... to your style ...and draw length...or throw something that doesn't change its shape much in terms of functionality...but am pretty shure am making this up 😅

As a blade smith I would say a knife with a good center of balance so you know we’re the wait is at all times no matter where you grab the knife

Make your own i have a buddy that got abunch of railroad spike and cut them down into throwing spikes
