About this video: Mods are one of the best things about Minecraft Java Edition. They can truly transform and change Minecraft 1.20 into a new and completely different game. So how do you download and install mods for Minecraft 1.20?

Well, this video will cover every part of getting mods for Minecraft 1.20. From how to download mods on Minecraft PC to how to install mods in Minecraft 1.20 to even using your 1.20 Minecraft mods once they are installed, this video covers it all super in-depth.

To get started, we will need to download and install Forge for Minecraft 1.20. This is the mod loader that will link your mods to Minecraft. You can find our complete guide on getting Forge in the description above including the Forge download link.

When you click the “Download Forge” button in our text tutorial, you will be taken to Forge’s download page. On this page, select 1.20 in the left-hand sidebar, and click the “Installer” button under download latest. Then, on the next page, wait 10 seconds, and click “Skip Ad” in the top right. Forge 1.20 will start downloading.

When you have Forge downloaded, open it with Java and click the Install button. This will add Forge to your Minecraft Launched installing it for 1.20.

With Forge added, we can move on to how to download mods for Minecraft PC 1.20. In this video, we install JourneyMap and Biomes O’ Plenty, but this will work with any Forge Mod for Minecraft 1.20. We have links in the description above to where you can find tons of different mods.

After you have your mods downloaded, it’s time to learn how to install mods on Minecraft PC 1.20. Starting off open up Minecraft with Forge. Then, from the Minecraft menu, click the “Mods” button to open the mods menu.

In the mods menu, click the “Mods Folder” button in the bottom left. This will open your mods folder. Drag-and-drop the Minecraft 1.20 mods that you want to install into this mods folder.

Now, when you come back to Minecraft, your mods won’t be there. You need to restart Minecraft, making sure to play using your Forge version, in order to use your mods. Anytime you want to play Minecraft 1.20 with mods, you must be playing with your Forge Minecraft installation.

After you have restarted Minecraft, click on the mods button again, and you will see all of the active mods that you have installed. You can go into singleplayer or join a server that supports the mods you have installed, and you will be able to use all of your 1.20 Minecraft mods in-game.

If your game is crashing- make sure to delete the mods and resource packs from older versions

Does anyone know why I'm getting Minecraft "Code 1" when I play with Forge and it goes to a red screen and it says Forge is loading but then a couple of seconds later it puts me back to the Minecraft Launcher where I get the "Code 1" error message screen. Btw I followed EXACTLY everything on this video - I just installed the new version of Java and Jarfix - the only difference I made was I installed a newer version of Java as I want to play Minecraft on 1.20.1 instead of 1.20. Everything else I've done exactly the same, I even installed the same mods as him but it keeps crashing! All my mod files say they are for 1.20.1. Thank you for the in dept tutorial, so far its working pretty good. I have question regarding the modpacks coming up as Zip. files instead of Jar. once downloaded. Once i place them in my mods folder they don't appear in my list on the main menu. I have also tried using curse forge app on desktop but all it does is crash my launcher and give me "Error code 1" once i try to launch the game. The current game version I'm using is 1.20.1 and Im only having success with individual mod installations.
