Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra vs S23 Ultra | 5-Day Review | Camera, Gaming, Battery & Beyond!

Reviewing the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra after 5 days of testing the camera, battery life, gaming performance and more, comparing vs the S23 Ultra from last year. Is the Samsung S24 Ultra a worthy upgrade, and worth that £1249 UK price?

I've been using this mega-Galaxy phone for almost a week and so far I'm a big fan. For one, the camera has improved over last year's model, so the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra offers more natural results with Scene Optimiser switched off. That's on top of the improved zoom between 5-10x, which now boasts upgraded clarity and tone.

Then there's the battery life, which is again superb - and ever so slightly better on the Samsung S24 Ultra vs the S23 from 2023. Sadly those charging speeds haven't improved. Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is more powerful, but this doesn't always translate to better performance. And indeed, on Genshin Impact, the S24 Ultra occasionally stumbles.

I'll keep on testing the gaming, camera and other bits for my full review of the Galaxy S24 Ultra, but that's my thoughts after almost a week and how it compares to the original almighty smartphone. Let us know your impressions down below!

This anti-reflective glass on S24 Ultra is the biggest upgrade to smartphones in years. I've now seen a few comparisons from different Youtubers and honestly it's mind blowing what a huge difference it makes.

Are you shooting 30fps sample videos on the phones and then converting to 25fps for YT? Because there are one or two skipped frames per second in the phone camera sample clips, so movement stutters a bit in them. Maybe you could keep everything at 30fps so that doesn't happen?

I don't see a problem with the square edges. I love that the screen is a real rectangle in stead of a rectangle with rounded corners. It's much better when watching videos.

Upgrading from s22 ultra to get the increased grunt and all day battery from the Snapdragon over the Exynos and flat screen. Unless anything major changes, then probably stick with the s24U for a few years.

Any experience with running the Yuzu Nintendo Switch emulator on the s24 ultra?

Because you mention it is getting toasty from Genshin, my s22 ultra bumps to 42-46c in 20 minutes of playing Pokémon let's go Eevee, which is a bit hot for my liking.
