Just to share my "real experience" learning back a decade ago. You just did in 8 minutes, what took me almost 6 months to master.
So, if any newbies out there discouraged, because they could not do everything demonstrated in this video. Don't be discouraged.
If you are just trying to hover and just fighting to maintain altitude and ground position.
Just keep on. It takes time.

I learned by thinking of myself as the pilot. Move the stick forward, it goes forward, move it sideways, it goes sideways. So when you fly, imagine you are the pilot and you are "steering" the heli. Except, the tail has to move around behind you. That's when it gets tricky. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. And go slow and easy! Great video. Looking forward to having you build me a "big" heli!

Also . . ., Thank You so much from a 71 Year Old Not so New Out of the Box Pilot, but, still quite new none the less. Wishing the School of Hard Knocks wasn't so long but as long as we continue to learn from our mistakes we're good. ( Hopefully those mistakes weren't very expensive, but, on the other side, they helped to keep the lights on - on your favorite hobby shop ! ! ! :-)

Haven't flown an RC heli in 15 years, and that was a fixed pitch Dragonfly. Recently bought a scale electric 500 size. My sim time is huge hours at this stage. (I fly heli's mode 2 but fixed wing mode 1... weird but works for me lol)
Never thought of doing the 4 point hover but makes sense. Cheers for the tip!!
Regarding the sim, I've found a 3d heli that is rather sensitive and have got to the stage where I can hover Tail in, in strong gusty winds, do figure 8's and circuits at various speeds. It's been quite a journey. No expo, and no dual rates.
Going to start doing your drills Jeff, Huge thanks!!

Two weeks ago I got Real Flight. Sims really help. I was looking for something else on your channel, but I can't believe I missed this. This is friggin awesome! Much love.

I use a switch just for expo. It helps a lot for learning new tricks. I learned this way and has helped me progress in 3D in the future and you will find out you still use the basics in harder 3D to help stabilize the moves
