So, one of the things that caught my eye at the auction was the HP 1741A oscilloscope. A classic 100MHz ( at least ) analog storage scope. So initially it looked good but had some cosmetic damage to the knobs ( which still need to be replaced as well as the rear feet/cord wrap ) but was more or less working. I opened it up to take a look at what might be going on inside and when I put it back together aaaannnndddd...sadness. Watch for the conclusion

"bumpage" and "grindey" are technical terms I am not familiar with. But good video on a venerable scope!

Can you help me get my Tektronix 465 running? How far are you from Northern California? I think I can get into Canada but I'm not sure that they'll let me back into the States. Meh, it's worth the risk.

I just picked up an HP 1740A Oscilloscope with both Probes and Manuals for $50...should be here in a couple of days.

I have identical problem on AC/DC/GND/50 selector, same broken contact!

So 7:20 did you cut a notch and insert some plastic? I have 2 HP 1740A's waiting for tear-down refurbs... Not saying I'll have the same prob, but nice to know, Thanks!

Ok thanks much appreciated I wonder what those 5 lights are for on the hvps. I see one flicker when I power off the scope. Thanks again for the information
