Asylum? Edward Snowden's Letters from Russia

"The NSA surveillance whistleblower Edward Snowden has said US officials are waging a campaign to prevent him from taking up asylum offers as he called a meeting in Moscow airport with human rights groups."*

We know that Edward Snowden is in Russia (not on the plane of Bolivian President, Evo Morales), and now we have letters from him. He's asking for asylum in Russia until he can get to Venezuela, but will this work? Will the U.S. break international law again to apprehend him? Cenk Uygur, Ben Mankiewicz, John Iadarola, and Alyona Minkovski (Host, Huffpost Live) discuss.

Exactly what I was thinking. From Vladivostok fly south/south-east around US airspace in Hawaii and then east across to Venezuela. Only problem then is, how close do you really wanna get to Okinawa?

I'd like to point out that Moralez/crew weren't forced to land in Vienna (if the US government had forced the Bolivian president's plane to land in a specific country, they definitely wouldn't have chosen Austria as it is neutral - like Switzerland), but conducted an emergency landing there as there was a technical issue (w/ the indicator of the plane's fuel reserve) and they were in Austrian airspace when they were informed that FRA/ESP/POR/ITA were refusing entry/refueling (unlike Austria).

The point for a presidential plane A to warn country authority B is just for the country B to protect the president of country A not to prevent him flying above you country B !
Has everyone forgot the basic of international laws now ?

There are planes that can do Moscow-La Paz, not the ones in service on commercial airlines, though... And not the ones in service for the Bolivian Air Force.
