SONATA FOR ALTO SAXOPHONE (1967) by JEANINE RUEFF, is part of the works recorded on the CD "Stylo & idea" (2015). This piece shows the typical elegance, mysticism, tenderness, and humour of the French music from the second half of the twentieth century. It can be considered as the first dodecaphonic style sonata for solo saxophone. Prestissimo, its third movement, was recorded using the triple staccato technique, having considered Daniel Deffayet’s comment during a class once he heard Antonio using this technique: “Si Jeanine Rueff avait su que cette technique peut être fait avec saxophone, bien sûr que les articulations seraient totallement différentes” (Daniel Deffayet, Paris 1995).
