I must say that I prefer these videos when you finish the 'story' off rather than just leave it hanging 😊😊

Love the fact you go on about electrical issues with the 308 and you drive a Range Rover!

I actually prefer your budget purchases the most. More relatable to more people

“I am basically a mechanic” 😂😂 great video as always Matt. I’m keen to see more French bargains on the channel. I’m fascinated by their hit or miss reputation. Cheers

As a British ex-Pat who has lived virtually all his adult life in Australia I never realised how detailed the M.O.T. was until I started watching your fantastic videos. In Australia we have a rego (registration) check which takes five minutes and seems to consist of checking your lights and indicators work, checking that the tyres aren’t bald and a quick spin to check the performance of the brakes. Literally takes five minutes at most!
The M.O.T. seems so much better and picks up any potential future problems with the car that buyers can see a record of.

My mechanic swears by Peugeots. Generally they don’t rust so can make a canny second hand purchase. I drove a 20 year old Peugeot 206 recently and was quite taken with it. Lovely pillowy ride quality after my BMW!!

Hi, my wife and I have had 2 307s since we’ve been together for 12 years. She had a 307 2.0 TD back in 2011. It cost us 2, 3k and had around 85k ish miles. It served us well until 2016. We did very little in the way of maintenance.
I had a 1.6 307 3dr 54 plate with 130k ish in 2020 for around 570 quid, and again did very little maintenance and it was great. Only got rid of it as I’ve had my wife’s Megane off her when she purchased a new car.

For those on a budget these are good cars.

Always a very "cut to the chase" explanation of what to look for in buying a used car. Very simple and a pleasure to watch. Thanks, for the down to earth education. Good Luck with your endeavours.

I know you are not keen of French stuff but I have to say the one's that I have had performed well and were reliable despite everyone telling me to expect the worst - they always ride comfortably as well.

I own BMW X5, but few months ago I bought 308 1.6 HDi 2012 just for one reason. Driving motorway to work. Over 5000miles done and 4.7l per 60miles. Like 60mpg.
It's cheap to run, road tax 20 a year, cheap insurance, maintenance cheap. I think this car will not be a bad choice long term...

One thing all your videos has made me do Matt is go out and clean my cars again each week. At 76 years of age I had lost interest in the weekly clean. Although my cars were never at the state some of the mobile rubbish bins you get, my wife and grandkids were not looking after the car when they were in it. Enjoyed this video as I have all your videos. Must get the aircon in each car serviced before the Aussie summer hits.

My very first car when passing was a Peugeot 308 in this exact colour but only a 1.4, loved watching this even hearing that indicator noise brought back memories (id drive a golf now so different sound) Peugeot have that rep (french) but I always have a soft spot for the 308, I put it through hell and it to me also but dam, what I fine car haha. Would of happily paid you the £500 to take this off your hands, would of treated it as a lil side project :). Keep up the good vids, very enjoyable.

My smoker for the last 5 years has been a 2010 308 1.6 HDI which is currently sitting at well over 200k miles and going like a clock. Every MOT it needs minimal work and it gets serviced every 10k. It gets tramped up and down Ireland going to auction houses to on a regular basis and I am very fond of it. Comfortable, nippy, cheap to run, cheap to fuel and endlessly reliable. Would much prefer it over something horrible like a Mk6 Golf or Toyota Auris…

I remember one of your very first reviews was a Peugeot RCZ if memory serves me correctly. I owned a 308 GTi in 2010 until 2015 and besides the engine check light that was on 70% of the time, it was quite solid especially in build quality.

Nice to see once in a while one that doesn't go swimmingly and makes lots of profit, brings a reality to what you do, and shows people it's a numbers game, some you win some you lose...keep em coming Matt, enjoy watching them and your little quips keep it lightish hearted. 👏

"it stinks - it smells of straw". Seems you were right about the rural bit Matt. Before you opened the bonnet, I expected a pair of nesting chickens.
