Save + Plant Potato Seed 🥔

Saving our own seed has always felt intimidating! We don’t want to mess this up!

Thankfully, nature wants reproduce itself and is really good at it when given the right conditions!

Growing potatoes is a big piece for us to be able to feed our family year round from the food that we grow.

When those 1, 2, or even 3 foot sprouts form by planting time, stay the course.

Plant them as you would any other potatoes taking care to keep those delicate sprouts in tact. Plant the whole potato and sprout underground.

And, yes you can still plant grocery store potatoes. To encourage sprouts to form wash thoroughly to remove sprout inhibitor. Place in a well lit, room temperature environment. This is a process called chitting or encouraging the growth of sprouts for planting potatoes as seeds.

Remove sprouts once a month. Plant ones with small sprouts, not long, like these.
