I was in Chongqing during the summer. Very uniquely built city. I got HK and even NYC vibes at times. The city is buzzing, the hotpot blew my mind!

Great summary. I grew up in China. Now, live in US. You went to far more places than I did. There are so many beautiful places in Southern China. Hope I will travel more in China.

Many of China's cities have centuries of history and if you watch a lot of Chinese historical dramas, many of these cities will appeal to you much more.

For example, having watched The Empress of China, Luoyang will come alive if you know that Empress Wu Zetian (played by Fan Bingbing) built some of the Longmen Grottoes there.

If you have watched The Story of Yanxi Palace, a trip to Beijing's Forbidden Palace will be give you goosebumps knowing how Wei Yingluo maneuvered herself to become the highest ranked concubine called "Guifei".

Another example, Hangzhou was once called Lin An, during Marco Polo's time, and was prominently featured in the Condor Heroes Trilogy.

Chongqing Yes. I’ve been to Chongqing this year, just like Chongqing in TikTok, some kind of dreamland.

The forbitten City at the beginning is not the one in Beijing but rather a film studio deep in mainland China.
. 😅

I live in Beijing, and you’re right it’s so freaking BORING and dull here! I lived in Shanghai for 2 years and it’s a VIBE for sure!!! Shanghai is my favorite city in China. I lived in Suzhou and Nanjing as well.

I really enjoyed comparing my adjectives to yours. 😂 Shame about the misinformation about Shenzhen and recruitment of Black teachers. Overall the one place that had me howling in recognition was Chengdu which I visited in January this year. Wild is correct!

Questions : what is Guangzhou city dialect? There are 14284353 peoples speak Cantonese in Guangzhou. ( actually Guangdong province 55 million speak Cantonese) There are only 7491609 in Hong Kong speak Cantonese. You said Hong Kong peoples don't even speak Chinese, they have their own language??

Protest! Beijing is not boring! I'm in Beijing, and Beijing is not boring! Yes, I'm typing! You have lots of choices in Beijing. You could enjoy English standup comedy show in many bars in downtown Beijing. Ok, anyway, if you need one to be boring, let's choose Beijing then. 🤪

I am thankful for your videos, I watched a few as I decide wether to do one year at EF. Ive been in shanghai for 4 ish years but I came here as a Designer at a big company. relationship and a sense of not doing what I came to do, is keeping me here but as you know all that is available to us is teaching, plus im past 35 and black so might as well jump off a cliff right lol. Anyway, I was looking at a position in Shanghai to stay here and cultivate the relationship with my lady but that training Center position suddenly closed but they were happy to offer fuzhou, shenzen and Guangzhuo . No way im going to Guangzhuo proper, I only consider Shenzen because im black and have hopes theyve seen enough of us to not make it a big deal. But I know that area is notorious for being against black skin during the Covid era so I am hesitant, plus its expensive. No better than shanghai, for the very very low salary offered. My first thought was Fuzhou because its more "Chinese" perhaps more quiet, everything I didnt see about china while living in Shanghai. but Fuzhou was basically under water for 6 months this year so I dont know what to do at the moment. lol! but I can tough out anything for a year to get the proper credentials to do something better in 2025. just focus on getting the language down solid and health. but yeah, your videos were nice, and thorough you are appreciated.
