Because hulk gets stronger when he gets angrier, and as professor hulk, he is more intelligent and in control, he became weaker. You could also argue that professor hulk would be more capable of learning how to actually fight, so he could have become a better combatant

I'm a Hulk fan. And I loved that moment where everyone including Professor Hulk got scared when the rageful Hulk appeared. This proves that even though they knew Hulk was part of the team, he was still a wild card and could easily lose control and attack on sight just like a wild animal. That's what I loved about the raging Hulk. I wish we could have gotten a balance of that between Infinity War and Endgame. Infinity War could have been the film where Hulk just wanted out and have full control leading to Endgame where Banner finally decides to trust his intuition in just merge himself into the Hulk. Plus a raging Hulk vs Professor Hulk would have been cool AF given that we needed more hulk action scenes.
