In this life, the women in our family and their legacy was broken, toxic, abusive, neglect, trauma, but also pain and suffering. I couldn’t have the relationship I needed or wanted with them, and now they’re all gone. I’m the mother now, literally and figuratively. Although we didn’t have a loving relationship in this plane, I know they’ve found healing and peace in the other world, and I know they’re my intercessors and guides. I want to say perhaps what I never could while they lived, that I love them, that I’m sorry, and that everyday I think of them and I’ve vowed to honor their lives, their struggle and pain. I hear this song, and I think…maybe we could not sing like this together on this earth, but surely in the great beyond, they wait for my voice to sing with them there. ❤

My late grandmother was Métis. I have no idea from what tribe, no one in my family acknowledges this side of us. I am so eager to know what tribe I am from. I feel called by my ancestors to continue traditions, our spirituality.. From the visions and dreams I have constantly, from the pull of native spirituality and natural medicine healing, I know my ancestors surround me. I have this elder that does guide me, she tells me all the time that I am a healer. I am from a lineage thats heals. That explain my interest to pursue herbalism and hypnotherapy. I cried so much during this song. I feel a calling like my sisters are signing to me.. Its so hard, as I know I have this piece of heritage deep within me, but my skin colour is fair, and my family doesnt care to connect with this part of us.
