A day after announcing it was retiring Atlas, its hydraulic robot, Boston Dynamics has introduced a new, all-electric version of its humanoid machine. The next-generation Atlas robot is designed to offer a far greater range of movement than its predecessor.

They are creppy cool. I can see them helping old ladies with groceries, building bridges, searching for people amongst the rubble, helping with disasters themselves created after their plan comes to fruition.

I'm wondering how they handled it in its programing. Do the right hand and leg become left and vice versa when he rotates his hip joints? What about head movement, what controls its directions and how does it change when the robot "realigns"? Doesn't it create room for potential hurdles when writing software for this guy?
