Quinn Mason’s Trombone Concerto 'Sonorous'

Together, composer Quinn Mason and Principal Trombone Mark Davidson collaborated to create a piece that allowed the trombone to sing above the orchestra—leading to the perfect name for this brand-new composition “Sonorous.”

“The challenge of writing this composition was mainly how to take the trombone (which is normally at the back of the orchestra) and bring him to the front, and figure out how to make him sing!” says, Quinn Mason.

“This piece gives me a chance to sing on the trombone, and essentially, that’s what we [as musicians] all do…our instrument is our voice!” says Mark Davidson.
