Back in historic times. Stealing an English sheep was punishable by hanging or transportation to Australia. So if someone was caught they would confess to having an "intimate relationship" with the sheep. Because the punishment was less severe.
It has turned into a standing joke that the Welsh are too friendly with sheep.

The simplest way to remember the difference (for me anyway) is the statement:

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Great Britain is the geographical term referring to the island and so Northern Ireland is excluded.

(Brittany in Northern France is considerably smaller in size to Britain hence ‘Great Britain’ was used to distinguish them apart.)

This isn’t something necessarily taught in UK schools.

A bit out of date in that the United Kingdom has left the European Union after a vote in 2016. However, because of the land border, there is still EU interference in trade between Northern Ireland and Great Britain!
Northern Irish friends pronounce Northern Ireland as “Norn Iron”!

Actually Scotland is very friendly with Geordie land(Newcastle & Gateshead)
As one time Scotland controlled Newcastle plus Newcastle is only 50 miles away from Scotland, we use some of the same words like. Bairns, bonny, aye, and more,
.the Scottish actually refer to geordies are scots with their brains kicked out( the point being is scots are very friendly with the Geordies were almost one people). So. Yeah. Scots hate most of England but so do us Geordies,

I think it makes more sense to say the main difference between the commonwealth realm, the commonwealth (Two separate groups) vs the oversea territories is that we do have power over the oversea territories since they are considered under the UK goverment politically so that means they have british passports and are not considered independent.

While the commonwealth realm and the commonwealth are considered independent and not under the UK goverment politically, so we have no right to tell them what to do.

The monarch may be in charge of both commonwealth groups (Commonwealth realm, our monarch will always be in charge though with little real power, while the commonwealth, our monarch is currently "in charge" but anyone can take over) but its more ceremonial, our monarch has very little power they can use these days. The monarch tecknically does have a lot of power but unless they want to be kicked out by the UK goverment, who won't like the monach acting on their own accord or course tension between the countries we're trying to have good diplomatic ties with, they can't use it.

Our parliment is more powerful than our monarch, thankfully.

Just going to say, I feel like I keep on having to say this on reaction videos to this specific video, so I'm annoyed the guy who made the video said this, We DON'T hate each other, if we all ran into each other in a room, we wouldn't judge each other on whether we're english or Scottish, welsh or northern Irish, only each others personalities, like normal people.

A lot of us have problems with the UK goverment, not us english people specifically. I've been to Wales and Scotland and never was treated badly because I'm english, I was treated completely normally in Scotland, while the Welsh were especially friendly and would stop us while we walked the dog and have chat with us.

The biggest error of this video is the claim that the "crown" and "anglicanism" are the official ruling authorities in the UK, wrong! In Scotland, the "crown" isn't the ruling authority as in England because in Scotland the "crown" is the people, therefore the people are sovereign, also, the official religious denomination in Scotland is Presbyterian, not Anglican! So, although the video starts off with trying to explain that Britain isn't England, it quickly falls into it's own trap by portraying the English crown and religious denomination as the main ones when they are not.

When you think about it the crown dependencies, many of which don't have an effective military benefit from having their own governance but have the British military and assistance in case of emergencies.
We're obligated to protect those citizens if they are invaded, as the Argentinians found out when they invaded the Falklands.
Still don't understand what they thought would happen.

Hi Island Girl the make up of the British isles includes the entire island if Ireland but the ROI is a different nation and is actually part of the EU as the UK is no longer a member of the EU. Bit Northern Ireland is part of the UK. It also left the EU unlike Republic of Ireland. So in effect the British Isles is England Wales Scotland Norther Ireland and the Republic of Ireland the Isle of Mann Anglesey island the isle of Wight the Orkney Islands and the inner and outer Hebrides are all the British isles also we have the Channel Islands which is just off of the french coast they make up Guernsey Jersey Sark and a few other small islands under the title of Brit Isles so it's a bit more confusing than this video actually makes clear
As for the claim that the main four nationalities of the UK don't get on that's just crap. Yes we all banter between ourselves but when it comes to all of us uniting as one nation is during times of invasion or war then whoever takes the UK on they effectively take on four independent nations who each have their own identity and their own specialists in a battle situation. If you need examples of this the two most recent and well known examples are the two world wars of the last century. Also the Falklands war and the middle eastern wars recently when we helped out the USA because they can't go to war without the UK for some reason lol probably because the USA isn't as well trained as the UK forces hehe

🤣No they don’t hate/ dislike each other it’s just BANTER although there are some diehard Scottish that still bare grudges about Colloden in 1746 I don’t blame them as many families were lost very cruel, but again it wasn’t the English Folk and soldiers had to take orders again it was the Politicians and this time it was the Nasty Duke of Cumberland 😠 the son of King George II. As for Ireland I wish it was United .Northern Ireland was separated because of Religion Catholic’s and Protestant fighting each other 🙄BUT HE STILL DIDNT EXPLAIN THE UK in 1603 the Stuart Scottish King became King of England uniting for the first time Scotland and England as Elizabeth I left the English throne to him & Ireland it didn’t become a UK (UNITED KINGDOM) until 1707 which meant England Wales Scotland and N Ireland, GREAT BRITAIN means Just the country of England and THE BRITISH Isles means all the islands around the UK phew that was an explanation wasn’t it and very confusing even to the inhabitants 🤣if you look at the flag which is the union flag of England and Scotland the English is a white background with a thick red cross where as the Scottish flag has a blue background with a thick white cross which is merged into each other to make the Union flag it’s only called a Union Jack if you are on a boat , Ireland and Wales do not have a flag although Wales has A Red Dragon 👍🤷‍♀️
