This comment will probably get buried, but here goes anyway: I've studied the Milgram experiment extensively, and at its foundation, the way it works is based on human neurophysiology. The more networks of neurons fire in the brain, the more those networks are strengthened to re-fire in the future. What a large number of people miss about this is the difficulty of ever BACKING OFF once behavioral shifts are taken and accepted. We see this in the near impossibility of getting someone to admit they were wrong, even when the evidence is overwhelming. Information gets selected to preserve and defend existing beliefs and behaviors, resulting in rationalization, confabulation, and irrational patterns of argument. And yet, the same neurophysiological facts that explain how Milgram's experiment works also tell us that the only way to counteract the underlying conditioning: It is essential to slow down, and appeal to broader time-tested objective strategies of thought and evaluation. It's what we might call "taking a hard honest look" at our own thoughts and patterns of behavior, and having the courage and self-discipline to accept when we have made mistakes and to back the hell up when we have. In the 1990's I knew a woman who was pretty troubled. She had a kid when she was 15, never finished school, addicted to drugs including heroin. She had trouble with the law, was arrested several times, spent a few months in prison. Sad because she was pretty. Anyways, she ends up cleaning up a little, enough to get a job at a casino. She was hired as a cocktail waitress, and was earning good money on tips. She told me once that one of the most disgusting things that ever happened to her was a customer who offered her $100 for her gum (the gum she was chewing in her mouth at that moment).

This was the late 90's. At that time, such an action was considered insulting, disgusting, demeaning. Even an unmarried, single-mom, drug-addicted criminal had enough moral standards to refuse to sell her chewed up gum to some weirdo simp pervert. She was so grossed out by that, and a few other episodes, that she quit that job not too long after, even though she was earning *by far* more money than she had ever seen in her life.

Fast forward to 2020, where women are selling their souls for $20 a month, one subscription at a time. Selling the water that they bathed in. No standards, no morals, no regrets. It's no longer disgusting, it's not shameful. It's now the opposite, it's something to be proud of. Society has already ended folks, believe me. It's not "dying", it's not in its "death throes". It's already dead, and we are now just existing on its corpse.

Isaiah 5:20 says "woe to those who say that good is bad and bad is good". Well, we're here.
