Chris I used this technique all the time with various irons depending on the distance to the green. And to the flag. It's basically called the Runyan method after Paul Runyan a golfer in the thirties and forties that perfected this technique you forgot to mention to keep the heel of the club off the ground so as you don't chili.dip the shot. I love all your videos

I am the master of the flop shot when I'm on the practice area, but then I get on the course and skull it about 70% of the time, drives me crazy. So I searched YouTube for an alternate way of getting the ball consistantly on the green and rolling to the hole -- this video is the best that I found. Very concise and great visual cues -- if I can master this technique, I'll knock 4-5 strokes off my round. Thanks Chris!

Just wanted to say thank you for continuing to upload lots of golf instruction videos, other YouTube golfers seem to upload more social content now rather than instructions so I learn so much more from your videos, the simple and straightforward advise is great! As for this video, I use this shot all the time and always say to myself treat it like a putter and just swing my shoulders, but never thought to stand closer to it and actually take my putter grip. Will try it today!

Thanks This is one of the things that I have not done.   always used the sand wedge or L wedge.    Going to try the chip and run with a 7/8..

Very similar to a previous video, since that video, I have practiced this every session of practice, for various distances off the green with different lengths of roll on the green, for 8 iron down to my sand wedge, I have cut out a huge amount of wasted shots, very useful approach

Excellent Runyan style chip and run.   the easiest and best way to play it.  not just for high handicaps.  best way to actually hole chip shots.

Another great video. I use this technique with 7 irons down to my wedges. The higher the loft, the less roll out.

Wanted to know if other people experienced this. I used to set up this way with the ball in the middle and forward press but noticed I'd skull the ball across the green. The ball a little more on the lead foot side with a straight back straight through, and downward swing helped eliminate that.

Just added this to my game after watching this video. So far a number of up and downs for par and a chip in birdie. So far so good.

?? With this to short distance for the lie of the 7 iron, the toe will dive deeper in to the grass and force the head of the club to the right !! Rather difficult to compensate with stability. How do you manage that?

PSPs one of the keys to this shot is not to lift your head up until after you hear the ball hit the green first.
