Angela Bassett To Receive Honorary Oscar After ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ SNUB | Roland Martin

Legendary actress Angela Bassett will finally get the Oscar she deserves, but the public is divided over the honorary Academy Award.

To celebrate her decades-long career and exceptional performances, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will give Bassett an honorary Oscar in November at this year's Governors Awards.

This achievement follows her contribution to the 30th anniversary of What's Love Got To Do With It and her performance in the Marvel movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as Queen Ramonda.

Many people are expressing their disappointment on social media that Bassett did not win an Oscar for her standout performance in the 2021 film. Some say it is long overdue, while others question the decision.

SHE SHOULD DECLINE IT...some side award as if she's not one of the best??? No...absolutely not and yes ABSOLUTELY boycott the Oscars, they been disrespectin' our Black actors and actresses, ESPECIALLY Angela...btw, I think we should be recognized among ALL people groups in our industries not just among our own with accolades (but I know why).
