Ironically, I don't think I've ever seen a lovelier face than Janis' at the time this performance was done. She may have been an awkward funny-looking teen, but she grew into a strikingly pretty lady. I had a friend who used to work for Janis back around 25-30 years ago, and I got to meet Janis and talk with her on a few occasions. A very gracious lady, and super talented. Now my friend is gone, and I can't hear Janis' music without my dear departed friend coming to mind. RIP Tina.

I was a junior in high school when this song came out. Janis Ian totally nailed teenage angst. The melody and her voice so melancholy yet beautiful.

Beautiful song and yes very deep. Society's Child was her first hit all about interracial love and how it was frowned on. Many radio stations banned the song for it's content but it has stood the test of time! Thank you so much for that!
