Actually Dark, most American engines have Walshearts, Baker is a more refined version almost exclusively used on higher speed passenger locos

I honestly wasn't expecting to find a Hudson mod, but OMG here it is! Can't wait to use it!

I think a rebuilt J-3a Hudson would be Nice to see on runs across the North Americas.

What's wrong with Kuju Black 5 sounds?

I don't know why but I cant see both engines when im in and route or a clone route I cant see them both at all

The Hudson is probably the best looking American locomotive on TS so far, and it’s freeware which is a bonus. Makes you wish we could get something like the C&O Greenbrier #614 or a Reading T1. Though I will say the timing is a bit off on the chuffing since the drive wheels are pretty large, it should be a tad slower to sync with the larger drive wheels.

Great review! Personally I'd use the chuff sounds from the SP GS-4 to avoid the double-chuff at low speed from the AC-10/11/12 articulateds. If you want to give this a proper speed trial, take it to a flat route such as the North East Corridor or from Salt Lake to Provo (NYC was known for having primarily level track like the LNER).

Gorgeous model, nearly had me sold. Right up until I saw how the driving wheel rotations are slower than the actual speed so it looks like it's hovering or sliding along. I don't like that. Once these chaps get that sorted though, I will be all over this.
Edit: Looks like the slow wheel rotation animation is only really a problem on the unstreamlined version; the streamlined one looks fine to me.

Also agree that the stock Kuju Black 5 sounds would be awful for this engine. Perhaps they could ask Smokebox if they could adapt the chuffs off the UP FEF-3 No. 844 pack; having chatted with him before he seems a decent chap, so I doubt there'd be any problem with that.

Why does it have a 3-cylinder chuff? Dark what did you do? They're only 2-cylinder

Oooh, DTG. mmm yes. Okay, so the J3a history is mid-late 30s (or early 40s) till the 50s, and they were unstreamlined before they were streamlined

I'm with you Dark, this is exceptional for TS2019 freeware!

The only thing I know about the Hudson Transit when they were built it was built in my the late1920 that was the on streamlined version when the streamlined it was like 1938 a 1940

Ive been waiting 3 years to see more mainline us steam also the whistle is damn near spot on for the j3a hudsons and the dreyfus could complete the run from nyc to chicago in 12 hrs which is like Southampton to the tip of scotland

If anyone is still watching this video I got these locomotives and the Normal Hudson wont even spawn I get a crash with no memory error. And the stream lined one will spawn but only the tender shows up. Blowing the streamlined whistle crashes with same memory error. Any suggestions?
