In this video, we answer all these questions about white tea, plus, cover some of the common misunderstandings that surround white tea while I boil (yes, boil) some aged Shou Mei. One of the best ways to enjoy aged white tea is actually to boil it. We hope this video gives you some idea of how to do it and start experimenting with your aged white tea at home.

Though there are many myths about white tea, it is definitely the only tea category that has misunderstandings. As a matter of fact, almost all tea types has many myths, which we hope to tackle in our future videos. Just to add, there are premium versions of baimudan that are one bud and one leaf, and some shoumeis also contain buds. There's also the oft-forgotten gongmei (tribute eyebrow) grade which is almost the same as baimudan, but picked in the autumn. Gongmei is very often sold off as baimudan for the increased market value of the name, though.

I can relate to the idea of how white tea can be misunderstood.
I have quite a bit of Shou Mei, and it’s so delicate looking, I just assumed a slightly lower temperature was in order, but boiling point is indeed the temperature to use.
To think, how much tea I under-steeped for nearly a year😫

My uncle runs a tea factory in Fuding. As far as I know,  premium aged Shou Mei should have a taste of dates.
