COLOMBO'S TREASURES: RAMSAR ACCREDITED URBAN WETLANDS

February 2nd is World Wetlands Day! Today, it also marks 50 years since the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on February 2nd 1971, in the Iranian city of Ramsar on the Caspian Sea's shores.
In honour of World Wetlands Day, we shine the spotlight on Colombo's Urban Wetlands, designated as a Ramsar Urban Wetland City in 2018 - the only capital city in the world to be bestowed with this honour.

In the past year Environmental Foundation Limited and the Department of Wildlife Conservation, funded by Ramsar Regional Center - East Asia Wetland Fund has been developing creative content to engage and inspire youth and the general public to value and protect our wetlands.
