"What the World Needs Now" is a lot more swinging, driving charts like this one from the never disappointing Mark Taylor.
I knew this version of this great hit was going to be different when I saw the 4/4 time rather than the 3/4. Great sax chorus in the middle.

The charm of Burt Bacharachs version was there was just a hint of sadness in his singing ( and Dionne Warwick).
Too much Columbian coffee. Or arabica. Too aggressively friendly.
You kind of lobotomized it.

The charm was in the melancholiness.
