iPhone XR - the iPhone 5C Reborn

The iPhone XR is meant to be a budget alternative iPhone XS- much like how the iPhone 5C was meant to be a budget alternative to the 5S. The XR is essentially the rebirth of the 5C, and so let's talk about that!

I’d say that iPhone XR is the successor to iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. While XS and XS Max replaced the X.

I honestly don’t see the similarities. Really, it’s only the colour. Otherwise, the XR has a beautiful screen, durable materials, and a great phone with a lot of features. The iPhone 5c is a cheap but usable price of technology that can do the bare minimum of what you need.

I had the exact same thought upon seeing they were going to release this submodel with a variety of colors I even thought they would follow the 'c' branding by it as the XC before the name was released. Despite not selling well, I think it did well in reimagining Apple's branding and not taking themselves too seriously

I feel like if Steve were still alive, he'd still be pushing for "one" iPhone and we'd have a single, XR-sized iPhone with all the premium features. For me, the iPhone lost some of its monolithic aura when multiple devices started being produced. Still, the XR is shaping up to be a great success!

Yeah the iPhone Xr is really that sweet spot for me; almost. If they could’ve lowered the price by at least $50, then it would’ve been absolutely perfect

Great review. Besides the fact it's cheaper than last year's iPhone X, we could assume the XR is more future proof in terms of iOS updates. It has the A12 SoC and the former iPhone X is a year older. So, I'm not surprised if in the nearby future, when a certain OS will release, the XR is supported and the X isn't. It makes sense :)

I don't think this is the 5C reborn. This phone is more a replacement for the iPhone 8. It's the flagship, while the Xs and Xs Max is their premium line

My very first iPhone was the pink 5c (I got it back in late 2013), since then I’ve gotten the black sapphire Galaxy s6, rose gold iPhone 7, & now I have the coral iPhone XR :)
