Today we take a look at the The Northampton Business Park Management Ltd, 350 Pavilion Dr, Northampton NN4 7YQ.

At first we just wanted to ask about the ANPR Cameras that they have dotted around the industrial estate and why they don't have signs warning the drivers that the data is being collected.

Upon arrival at the building we find an Illegal Number Plate with it being on HoneyComb Background and not a Solid Yellow Background.

We try to have a chat with the driver but nobody was willing to own up to it.

Eventually the police arrive and respond in a very funny way.

Unfortunately while the car is parked on private property the plates are not an issue (as far as the Police are concerned). However once they drive out onto the public highway they will be committing an offence. As well as the potential £1000 fine, people are often not aware that their insurance becomes invalid because they are failing to comply with the insurance small print that says 'for your insurance to be valid in the event of a claim you MUST maintain your vehicle in a road worthy and road legal condition'. Police love doing insurance indecent/claim reports mentioning the vehicle was not road worthy or legal knowing the insurers will not pay out.

Number plate offences, are dealt with on a public road only. A vehicle defect rectification form is issued for these matters.

Loved the way you wound them up so politely and when the short legged guy ran out to the police excitedly like a 5 year old at xmas, before almost instantly being dismissed with Lock Your Doors advice. I bet they felt like total losers and the BMW owner probably went home as soon as you'd gone. Congrats to the police for treating them with the contempt they deserved.

If you report an illegal number plate to the police they won't have the slightest interest unfortunately. Because of that, illegal registration plates are proliferating.

D J is right its funny these people dont want to be held to account for their illegal plates as the rest of us would have to .It may be ignorance of the law only you are helping them avoid a 1000 pounds fine....Whats not to Love ?`
