Loyal Nike member here. I don’t see current market conditions affecting the long term and i can definitely see the share price get over 110 again! I did hear they are be cutting production on sneakers like Jordan 1s, AF1s etc. so they should help them maintain a better free cash flow. Short term i could see a dividend cut BUT im bullish for the long term!

I think these companies are going to be hit hard as people start tightening their discretionary spending. It's a reluctant buy for me, I feel the same with Starbucks.

What’s NKE’s dividend history though? Has it always raised the dividend YoY?

I am still not clear on the reason for the share sell off that caused Nike's share price to plummet to this near 52-week low. In 2023, its profit margin is at 9.9% out of a $51 billion in revenue. Is this 10% profit margin typical for the retail industry? Unlike the likes of NVidia, there is really no new innovations for Nike and the retail business. I mean how many ways they can make the sneakers and clothing at 65% and 27% of what Nike sells respectively? The only reason there is revenue is people have to replace their shoes once very 6 months, so as long as there is enough Nike's brand loyalty, why would anyone else buy expensive Nike's shoes? Nike is not a growth stock given that it's already virtual monopoly with Adidas being a far second, and no more innovations. It's not even a good dividend stock.

Anecdotal, but the majority of 25-35 y/os I see rock Hokas or ONs. I have personally only bought Hoka and Cole Haan the last 3 years. Hoka also has an actually patented sole design in every one of their shoes.

I dont really follow NKE but I have never been more bearish.

I would stay away. Too much competition from new balance, ASICS, gym shark Lulu lemon etc
