St. Kitts & Nevis - FIRST PORT of CALL for Icon of the Seas

We are on the first official sailing of Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas and today we are in the first official port of call in St. Kitts. In deciding what to do in this port, we started looking at excursions and booked a Nevis Island Tour through Shore Excursions Group. See the link below:

After docking in St. Kitts, we met our tour guide who took us to the ferry and gave us our tickets. Once we rode the ferry to Nevis we met with our guide for this island. This was not a private tour as booked but we knew it would be a small group... and it ended up being just the two of us. Our first stop was at Hamilton House as Alexander Hamilton was born on Nevis and he is important to their history. Then we were taken up to a high vantage point to see the island with an amazing view of the volcano. There was also a natural hot spring up here which we could have soaked in if we wanted to. We put our feet in but that was all. It would have felt amazing!! We made several other stops around the island to see the beauty and ended at the beach for lunch.

Once bak onboard, it was time for a show! The Aqua Theater has been moved from the back of the ship on the Oasis class ships to the front inside the AquaDome on Icon of the Seas. This venue is truly amazing and the show was mindblowing!! It is definitely a must-see onboard!!

We did a carnival cruise to St. Kitts last January. We chose to do one of the open air tour buses that take you around the island. It was so much fun and I would highly recommend it. We saw a bunch of them outside the cruise terminals and found one that looked like other cruise passengers were taking it too. It was $25 a person for a several hour tour. They showed us the beaches, the jungle, a castle ruin, and the pass where the island narrows to its iconic shape. There were multiple stops where we bought local food (we bought the best chicken and rib platter off a side of the road vendor open air BBQing and it was amazing!) and soft drinks were provided. He even had local beers for free! It didn't feel super touristy as they took us to more local spots. Everyone was kind and helpful. We love the Caribbean.

St. Kitts is one of my favorites. We taxied to the Shipwreck Bar and snorkeled. They have black sand beaches and wild but friendly monkeys. Also went on a snorkeling/drinking excursion to an actual partially sank ship. Again, great snorkeling and great hosts on the catermaran. EECC, you are our idols! Keep traveling and sharing.

Really enjoyed the vlog on one of my favorite ports. Couple of corrections though. St. Kitts & Nevis are not part of the British Virgin Islands. They have been an independent country since 1983. Secondly, Alexander Hamilton was born in 1755, not 1855, and the house was built around 1680.

St Kitts is such a beautiful island. It is also one of the best places that I have ever been snorkeling. I took my boys last year on an excursion that I booked through Royal Caribbean called "Kayak and Snorkel" and it was amazing!! The guides were amazing, and we were able to see stingrays and sea turtles and not just the tropical fish that you typically see on a snorkeling excursion. Thank you both for sharing your experiences with the world!! I love them all!!

When we were in saint Kitts we took a train tour and really enjoyed it.very pretty views from the train.and lots of Pina colada s, that they gave you on the train.this was back in 2017

I have been to the Caribbean in 2016. Every Island is different. St Kitts and Nevis is nice. Its well worth a visit.
The beaches are good, the beaches are better in Antigua and Barbuda.Barbados is also great and is beautiful.

We visited St. Kitts last month with HAL. Opted for an island tour there that included Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park which was the highlight of the tour! So next time you might enjoy visiting the fort!
We will do a ferry tour over to Nevis (like you did). We'd love all the historical sites! next time! It's unfortunate we have to choose right? But there's always a next time!
