I own both, and both have their strengths and weaknesses. When it comes to the shear fun, I give it to the 2 strokes. I love the sound and smell of 2 strokes, and the violent power when you're on the pipe.

2 stroke for repairability after smashability
4 stroke for tractor ability with newb ability

Great video!

Well, I'm certainly not riding at the caliber of these guys but pretty much across the board, in my opinion, 2-Stroke = Fun and 4-Stroke = Easier to ride/more predictable power delivery. Great video!

I'm a 73 year old rider. The 300 2 stroke is my golden rule or signature bike for technical and challenging mountain trails.
Just my preference.

Agree 100%. Started on technical stuff on a 4 stroke and I wasn't good enough with the clutch to keep it from flaming out. Now riding a 2 so I can relax my clutch focus a little for some features.
Happy I've tried both. 💪😃👍

That fun factor on a 2stroke tops anything out there I love the 2stroke

Money made my decision for me kawasaki 250x radiator fan and an IMS tank and I can ride anywhere from track to trails and saved alot of money with the deal they gave me. In the end 2 stroke or 4 doesn't matter as long as it makes you smile all day!!

I prefer the 2 stroke because it's very hard to stall it and since I am a shorter guy it's really important for me to keep the engine running in the gnarly stuff because I don't have an electric start.

I love riding back country single tracks and for that job the 2-stroke just fits my riding better. At the end of the day I've still got something left on the 2-stroke but the guys on the 4-strokes are more worn down physically.

Why no mention of Johnny Walker winning the endurocross series on a two stroke? Is he that much better that he can overcome the "disadvantages" and still win? Or maybe two strokes are actually better?

My first real Dirt Bike was a YZ250 MX bike from 1997. I can't really say that I enjoyed riding it, since the power delivery was too aggressive for my taste. One day I attended an enduro clinic a local KTM dealer organized where you could test different enduros. I got my self a 525 EXC and immediately fell in love with the bike. Even though it had alot more power compared to the YZ the delivery was was more predictable. I ordered my 525 EXC the same day. That was in 2005.

I'm in alignment with Rich's comments about where the 2T and 4T shine - not that I'm in his riding league, but I have ridden all over the Colorado Rockies on CRF450's and 330 XCW's, and I can do both just fine. The 2T DOES feel more nimble, but after I added weight for the pipe guard (I ride enduro/hard enduro), they kinda feel the same. I love my 450 in ANY desert looking terrain, I don't even want to touch the 300! But the 450 is WAY too much power in tight places, so I'm seriously considering buying another orange bike in the 350 displacement! I believe I'm one of the riders who the 350 would be ideal for, I just can't stand to part with my other 2 bikes, they are both awesome to ride! Which ever bike I'm on, I'm smiling while I'm riding!😄

... Learn to ride on a 4 stroke. Hone your skills and race on a 2 stroke. I use my 2 stroke for tight woods / hare scrambles / play riding and the 4 stroke for wide open riding/enduros. I feel faster on the 4 but have more fun on the 2!

I've owned several 4 stroke bikes. I like them. They seem very linear and tractor-ish. I regret that the only 2 stroke that I've owned and ridden is a late 90's RM125. It would do me well to ride a 250 2 stroke to see what it feels like.

I have both and I love them both. I prefer 4 stroke for MX and 2 stroke for Enduro.
