DIY How To Make A Monotub for Mushrooms

I believe you’re painting towards the bottom to prevent side pins. That’s not how it works. Light has absolutely nothing to do with growing mushrooms, as they don’t photosynthesize. It seems you’re attempting to mimic the black plastic liners that a lot of people use. It’s on the inside, touching the substrate for a reason. As the fruits grow, they take a lot of the moister from the substrate(cake) with them, causing it to shrink. This causes a microclimate, which early pinning mushrooms love. The liners will move with the shrinking substrate so not to allow the gap between the cake and tub. In no way, shape or form will painting the bottom of the tub help to prevent side pins, or anything else really. That’s just more money, time and hassle to deal with. This comes up quite a bit with new growers. Hope this comment helps and maybe prevents someone watching this video from making this mistake.

- Grain Spawn Transfers
- Agar to agar
- Agar to Grain
- Spore swab to agar
- Primo FAE conditions
- Timelapses showing an average time it takes for stages of growth. (For ppl who get antsy and want to start poking with sticks too soon)
- Contam Identification!!!

I say this for selfish reasons because I found you trying to get a quick reminder on CVG recipes. 😂

And I did read that for FAE you should consider one hole, each side near the top on the “ends” as well, or wave your lid over it 3 times a day. I’m probably doing it with like, six to eight 1.75” holes, 2 bottom wide sides, maybe 2 near the handles (if their are) tape at first, micropore at the fruiting stage; etc…

Bro you have to put a liner in just spraying the sides black doesn’t help side pins.

I put 10 2in holes in a 32 qt monotub. Is that not enough or to much or just enough???

Can i use a hot knife to cut the tub or has to be like something like that
