Unfortunately for someone like me who has many many acres, this isn’t really an option but if I had a smaller lawn I would definitely consider this.

A Stihl dealer told me a few days ago that if I wanted a bowling green cut, or quite a short cut, then I shouldn’t buy a battery mower. He went on to say that if I went ahead and still chose to buy one ( the 339 was the one I was considering), and subsequently returned to complain that it was not cutting low enough and asked for a refund, he’d refuse to refund me because he warned me prior to my decision to purchase..

What that tells me is that the mowers are fundamentally not fit for for purpose, and my guess is that if they produced a lower cutting mower, the so called great polymer ( plastic) chassis, as opposed to say the old petrol Victor etc, wouldn’t last very long. Not good, there is a need for Stihl US to review their manufacturing processes and provide us with lower cutting height options.

It is a significant decision to buy a battery mower as that same battery can be used on a number of other stihl products. I actually bought a smallish battery chainsaw, but deferred a decision to buy the 339 mower. If I do go ahead and buy the 339:battery mower I’d be able to use the battery from the chainsaw I bought. So yes, we need to think a lot. The specs on the 339 though do indicate that it would cut low enough, but clearly, not the very low cut that men, particularly, prefer.

It seems that Stihl needs to review all this and consider making changes like perhaps providing more durable metal chassis bodies.

You feel pretty disempowered though as a customer, particularly as Stihl is multi national!

Finally, I came across the issue by ploughing through feedback from customers who were unhappy with some or perhaps all Stihl battery mowers just not cutting low enough.

I live in NE Vic.

This video is actually inaccurate, I have just bought the 339c and the video shows the grass level indicator as popping up when the box is full but actually it’s the reverse. The indicator should be up until full then it pops down showing the operator it’s full.

Hello, friends. I have question about my Stihl MRA 448 TC, the thing is that when the first battery discharges, the mower won't automatically switches to the second battery and I must swap those batteries manually? It's this normal or it's some kind of defect?

I own many of their products. From trimmers to chainsaws with no complaints. But I'd like to see a real ad. Some dude with his stomach peaking out of his shirt, throwing the lawnmower out of the garage because he's angry that he has to mow while football is on. Beer in hand mowing the lawn while running over some of the kids toys. The mower survives. Man passes out on lawn . End scene.
