Edit : English is ruling over Indians - is incorrect. Before English Moguls ruled India, Urdu was ruling India? No. The easy and richness in English automatically stabilized in India. Further no such one single rich language existed then. Had Hindi been before English probably Hindi could have been ruling. The minimum alphabets and minimum vowels. Easy to make a typewriter, such easily acceptable aspects were more in English. Further though English had set backs learning was difficult for Indians, it flourished, because Educated Indians felt (even now it is so) that speaking or knowing English is prestigious.

Though local language (vernacular) supporters are more in South India, English had its own way in, without much struggle. Higher education technical terms are still not substituted to English.
