Doink The Clown's ECW Debut/The Birth of Borne Again

Footage of Matt Borne's(Doink) Debut at ECW's (Eastern Championship Wrestling) event called NWA World Title Tournament where he faced 911(Al Poling) as a surprise wild card entrant in a brutal Squash Match on 8/27/94
Not only was this the day where Extreme Championship Wrestling was born, it was also the same day where the Borne Again gimmick was originated.

I don't own any of this footage. All the footage and rights belong to WWE.

And if anyone is wondering about why there's a clown emoji edited in, it's because the original video(from the WWE's Video Library) has the WWF Attitude Era logo on it. So had to censor it out. And that it's fitting because you know, DOINK!

Funniest thing is though Doink is portrayed as the joke and everything wrong with wrestling here. Matt Borne could wrestle circles around 911. Nothing against 911 but he was a one trick pony to no fault of his own. They used him for the choke slam and never seen a point in training him further.

It may have sucked jobbing here to 911. But it did lead to the creation of Borne again. Making his opponents to look like the joke wrestling around them and finishing it with putting the doink wig on them. I just wish he stood around ECW a bit longer.

Back when you could riff on and make references to other wrestling shows. Now, it's a rarity. We're getting more of it now with AEW, but they're nowhere near as on the nose as some of the worked shoots in the 90s.

Such a shame that they used Doink as nothing more than the posterboy for the campy wrestling that ECW fans hated. Matt Borne was a legend, certainly better than that jobber in this match.
