I loved playing Stepmother in my old school’s performance of Cinderella. The character parts are always fun. They didn’t let me shake my booty but I got away with sway back and huffing loudly onstage. 😅

I genuinely wish comedy was utilized more within ballet and dance in general. Goodness knows attendance would probably go up if a bit of humor and satire was brought in. The dance community is already presumed to have a bit of a stick up its’ ąss. (Which let’s face it; is true to an extent.)

Reminds of a time me and friend wanted to be the step sisters but the company decided to give the roles to two of our most beloved dance instructors; An older grey haired white man who still had his Drosselmeyer beard from The Nutcracker nearly 4 months prior, and a very tall black man with exceptionally hairy legs. And yes, he made sure he had the shortest dress to show them off. (≧∇≦) They absolutely ruled every scene they were in and very nearly stole the entire show!

Я ходила первый раз на этот балет с бабушкой. Ещё балерина Наталья Макарова танцевала одну из сестер Золушки. А Мариинский театр находился в Ленинграде, который ещё не стал Санкт-Петербургом. Музыка, хореография, сольные партии так меня поразили, что в антракте я танцевала у всех на виду в мраморном фойе. На мне были шифоновое платье, обшитое цветами, и розовые туфельки. Это было волшебство настоящего театра балета

I'm impressed by how smooth their movements were when they were moving so "loosely"... I bet it takes a lot more control than it looks like to dance "poorly" while still looking good.
