Just different kind of strength. Sure, a willow tree or a bamboo can flex and withstand the wind, and a strong push better than a stiff, rigid oak tree - but which one would be quicker to succumb to a pruners shears, an axe, etc.?
Different strengths for different times - I would say be like water, but maybe "Be Like Oobleck" would be better?
