What is the reason behind this happening?
I have heard two versions:
1. Games are being released without proper optimization, and developers of such games urge the use of technologies like DLSS or FSR.
2. Allegedly, modern graphics solutions and game engines have advanced so much that computer hardware simply cannot keep up with them, resulting in cards like the 4090 being considered "outdated" right from the start.

This is no 4090 and Nvidia problem. This is a "Game" problem, unoptimized game, lazy devs and i expected from 24 fps, for the game to look like Unrecord but 100* times better, and if not, what the f*@# are the devs doing. It's like they never heard of Occlusion culling; LOD scaling based on distance from and to the camera. These two just when used normally, will cause your game to act way better. CS2 has it, Valorant has it, LOD (Level of Detail) bases on distance should be in every single game that is gpu demanding, Even then tho. It's miserable to see a game that runs at 24 Fps when the game is maxed out and it still doesn't look amazing.

What did we expect... Imma just say, i don't care much for this game, since it's boring imo, and i would never play it. Neither this one nor the first game. So whatever, but this just sucks

you are to generous, your title should have said: 4090 is a 720p gpu.
and no gpu can run this game without blurring the image.
this is a next gen game for 15700k and a 5090. mark my words on that.

the problem is unoptimized games, not the 4090's fault devs cant fix a game properly.. They release a unpatched and unoptimized game to later on, fix the issues.. instead of taking the time to get it working correctly.

Thanks for Alan Wake 2 for proving once again why it's pointless to pay premium for RT/PT. We're still quite not there, maybe 1-2 gen later this will change.

It seems to hover at 30+ FPS most of the time in the less demanding areas, though. In the most demanding areas, which are the highly vegetated areas, the 4090 gets around 20–25 FPS. I just want 60+ FPS at native 4K max settings with PT. Sucks that we can't do that, doesn't it? Maybe with future hardware, it might become a reality. The fact that the 4090 is able to get over 30 FPS in some areas of the game at native 4K max settings with PT is impressive.

Never play at ultra and 4K is not necessary. High settings at 2K is the sweet spot

Personally I think 3440x1440 is the sweet spot for the 4090 at least for higher frame rates. Love my qd-oled.

More like game developers are getting lazier. If a 4090 isnt a 4k GPU now, then what is? Certainly no AMD product because none of them are as fast as a 4090

Yes it's a very demanding title, personally with my TUF 4090 I put everything at ultra with RTX, 4k DLSS quality plus frame generation and I cap the game at 60 fps to get good frametimes simply because this kind of game doesn't need more than 60 fps, the GPU is on average at 75% utilization, the experience is verry good.

Doesn't this game use path tracing at max settings, there isn't a card out at the moment that can run this at 4k
