I argued against replacing Biden so late in the election year. I did not feel any new candidate would have had a chance to run a successful campaign in the remaining time. I was hopeful that Kamala, being a known quantity, would have a chance but I was still concerned if there was enough time. Biden should have dropped out much sooner. Better yet, not run for a second term. When he won in 2020 I said that while I was glad he won, I hoped that he limited himself to the one term. This was largely due to his *perceived* age and cognitive decline not whether he would be able to do the job. What the actual status of his cognitive abilities are and the affect that his age has on them is a big unknown. Trump and his supporters are big on making and repeating claims -- many false -- knowing that if repeated often enough people will eventually believe them as absolute truth. They did an incredible hatchet job on him whereas similar faux pas and mistakes by Trump were largely ignored.

You were reporting that you’re looking at a trump victory all along and I know it was a hard pill to swallow but the information you had showed Trump coming on strong. People blaming you for the outcome of this election is completely false and disgustingly disturbing. It would have made no difference if Biden had dropped out earlier !! You have to remember there is a certain segment of our society that will not vote for a woman as president no matter what !! Then you consider the fact that Kamala Harris is black and that is another strike !!

I agree with the commentator. David, at some point in time, you were arguing on behalf of keeping Biden as the nominee, and seemed to think that replacing him was not a feasible idea. Turns out that, while Kamala didn’t win, Biden’s loss would have been even worse, by bigger margins and while the right doesn’t care, it would have been way worse for the morale of the left. It matters how bad someone beats you.

As much as i would love for Bernie to be president, we saw last week that he most likely would not have won. Many people are beginning to become more progressive and want change but for many Bernie is too progressive

Biden should’ve made it clear from day one that he was going to be a one term president and that it. It was obvious that his age and cognitive decline would never get him a second term. Even when he sought reelection, I had concerns if he was able to do it.

I thought Harris was a decent candidate but throwing her into the race that late and not competing in the primaries did somewhat hurt her chances. It was clear she was running a Biden campaign and not a Harris campaign for the most part. It was very much the same as Hubert Humphrey in 1968.

I truly think the Dems need a fresh start and get a candidate that is worthy of voters. If they want to get into the White House in 2029, they need a worthy candidate to get voters back. As well as a candidate who’s willing to serve two terms.

The Dems are long overdue a rehaul. And I think it needs to start.

No, no! It was the platform on which the Dems stood that was wrong (hi from the UK btw).
The fundamental flaw in the Dems strategy was that all Harris and Walz had to do was come over as honest and credible, and allow Trump to dig his own grave. Bernie would have promised radical change and showed how it could be achieved. Harris and Walz had very little specific policy on show at all.
