Gunther defended the world heavyweight Championship against Bron Breaker at survivor series. As breaker charged for the spear, Gunther countered into a sleeper hold submission. Breaker escaped and attempted the German suplex, but Gunther countered again and applied another sleeper hold. Gunther performed a dropkick and powerbomb on breaker for a nearfall. Gunther executed multiple powerbombs, but breaker kicked out. Gunther performed multiple top rope splashes on Zayn. As Gunther climbed the top rope, Liv Morgan appears and distracts the referee, Finn Balor attacks kaiser with bloodysunday and delivers a low blow on Gunther from behind. Breaker performed a frankensteiner on Gunther. Breaker then followed up with two consecutive Spears and pinned Gunther to win the title for The first time in his career and is the youngest man to win the new version of the world heavyweight champion at age 27
